QuKnicc, July lit).—The cereiuonies and festivities connected with Cardinal Taschereau's installation oponed this afternoon. Orowda of strangers have been pout ing in since (porning by every boat and train, and a still larger influx 13 exiiecled to mon-ow morning. FlagH are Hying in overy diicotion, imd some sixteen magnilicent triuniplial arches have been erected on the route of to-morrow'd procession. Tlie basilica has also been lavishly decoraleil for tiie in-Btallation ceremonies, and very extensive public and private preparations have been miulc for Lbe illumination and fireworks to-uiorrow night.

At 1 o'clock this afternoon the cnv uionieb opened with the" swearing in of the new Oardinal, in the private chapel of his palace, in the jireaont'o of the Papnl Ablegate ami fiarde Noble, the ArchbiBhop.M of 'I'oronto, Montreal, Halifax, Ottawa, St. Boniface, Oliar-lottetowu, St. .lohn, N. B., St. l.oiii.H, Mo., and New tli'leans, the coadjutor Bishop of Toronto, and the lii.shopH of St. Hyacinthe, Sherbrookc, Chicautimi, Rimouski, Nicolet, Ariohat, Kingaton, London, Pontiac, Hamilton, Chatham and St. Albert, N. W. T., besides a large number of inferior clergy.

Standing in front of the altar and having the Papal Ablegate on his right, and Archbishop Lynch on hit; left. His Eminence, with his right hand on the C!oh|H'1s, read Liie formula of the prescribed oaths in liio case of all Princes of the Ohurch, afterward.s subscribing it, and handing it to the Ablegate, who will take it back with him to Rome. This ceremony was very solemn and impressive.
